Mortuary Affairs Officers Course

2 weeks. Open to all commissioned/warrant officers and DOD civilians.

To prepare officers to plan, direct, and coordinate MA operations involving recovery, tentative identification, and evacuation of deceased U.S. military personnel. Training will include the technical aspects of collecting, safeguarding, and accounting for personal effects of those deceased. Training will prepare officers to plan and coordinates mortuary affairs support to military operations and civil mass fatality operations.

Mortuary Affairs Senior Leaders Course (SLC) (492-92M40)

5 weeks and 1 days. (Taught at ALU)

To train selected noncommissioned officers (NCOs) with comprehensive knowledge and skills required to perform MOS 92M Mortuary Affairs Specialist duties of a supervisor of logistical operations.  Training prepares senior enlisted personnel to serve at the platoon sergeant level, section chief of MA operations, or as an operations NCO on a BN staff level or higher.

Mortuary Affairs Advanced Leaders Course (ALC) (492-92M30)

To train selected noncommissioned officers (NCOs) with comprehensive knowledge and skills required to perform 92M mortuary affairs (MA) operations, to include basic supervisory management skills in search, recovery, and evacuation operations; collection point and theater mortuary evacuation point operations; decontamination of remains operations; interment and disinterment operations; mortuary operations; medico legal death investigation techniques; logistical planning for MA operations at battalion staff level or higher.


Mortuary Affairs Specialist Advanced Individual Training (492-92M10)

The Mortuary Affairs Specialist Advanced Individual Training (AIT) course qualifies enlisted Soldiers and Marines to perform MOS 92M skill level 10 tasks to search, recover, evacuate, tentatively identify, document, and conduct proper disposition of remains and personal effects. Lessons covered include introduction to Mortuary Affairs program, elements and activities; military map reading and land navigational procedures; search, recovery, and evacuation operations; procedures to establish and operate a Mortuary Affairs Collection Point (MACP) and Theater Mortuary Evacuation Point (TMEP); decontamination of remains operations; interment and disinterment operations; mortuary operations; and tentative identification procedures.
